VNS of Northern Carroll County Receives 2008 Bob Morrell Award

The Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council has honored Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care Services of Northern Carroll County with the 2008 Bob Morrell Award, presented at the Council’s Annual Meeting on November 20. The Bob Morrell Award recognizes the qualities and values which Mr. Morrell, founder of Storyland and Heritage New Hampshire, exemplified as a business and community leader. Special recognition was given this year to Maryellen LaRoche and Wilma Lord for many years of service, guidance, and dedication to an organization that aids families through some of most difficult health challenges in their lives.

As Executive Director from 1984 – 2007, Wilma Lord, RN, guided what is now a team of 12 full and part-time registered nurses, six therapists and three office staff. Maryellen LaRoche has been a consultant advisor to VNS for over twenty years, providing support and knowledge about anything related to home care. She is the driving and guiding force behind VNS which is amplified by her association with other agencies in the valley. In the words of the present Executive Director Sandy Ruka, “she is truly an incredible person and has done immeasurable amount of work in our community and across the state.”

Congratulations to the VNS, Wilma and Maryellen for this well-deserved recognition!
