OASIS-C News: Manual Revision, WOCN Guidance, B-1 to C Transition, Competency Testing
OASIS-C GUIDANCE MANUAL:
The OASIS-C Guidance Manual (most importantly, the Chapter 3 Item Guidance) has being revised. An Errata Sheet describing the changes was posted on December 11th. The revised OASIS-C Guidance Manual can be obtained on the OCCB site under the resources tab (about halfway down the page). Please note that the latest version is still labeled Sept. 2009 on the front cover, but you are not accessing the wrong file.
WOCN GUIDANCE on OASIS-C INTEGUMENTARY ITEMS:
The Updated WOCN document was released December 17th. CMS requires use of WOCN guidance for responding to OASIS wound questions. This document should replace the July 2008 version as a key resource for making data collection decisions for the OASIS-C wound items.
TRANSITION FROM OASIS-B1 to OASIS-C:
The determination of whether to complete a comprehensive assessment using the B1 or C version of OASIS will depend on the M0090 date (Date Assessment Completed). If the M0090 date is 12/31/09 or before, the OASIS-B1 data set should be used. If the M0090 date is 01/01/10 or after, the OASIS-C data set should be used. Note: If an assessment is completed in 2009 utilizing the OASIS-B1 data set and the assessing clinician chooses to reassess one or more OASIS items in 2010 during the allowed assessment timeframe for data collection (e.g., within 5 days after the SOC, or within 2 days after the ROC or DC), this would change the M0090 date and the OASIS-C data set must be used, instead of the OASIS-B1 version. For more detail, review page 5 of the updated version of OASIS Considerations for Medicare PPS Patients document.
