New Hampshire EMS has a protocol for “community paramedicine,” also known as “mobile integrated healthcare” and the concept of EMTs doing more than emergency care and transport is sweeping the country. EMTs could soon be doing med reconciliation and wound dressing changes for homebound patients in New Hampshire. A program in Eagle County Colorado uses EMTs, with doctor’s orders, to preform tests, medicine management, and generally check in on home bound patients.
For the past year, HCANH has been in dialogue with NH EMS. The Association’s Board appointed a special committee to explore the issue and make recommendations. Both agencies are working together to ensure New Hampshire initiatives are collaborative and offer the best possible care and service to Granite Staters.
Find out more about this hot topic and also about what’s happening at NH DHHS at the Association’s Special Membership Meeting on June 24th, 9:30 – 12:30 at the NH Hospital Association. Our guests are EMS Bureau Chief Nick Mercuri. Don’t miss this important meeting!
