The 3% Rural Add-On is critically important to preserving access to Medicare home health services for patients in rural areas of New Hampshire. The US Senate is considering a rural add-on extension that will limit it to sparsely-populated “frontier areas” and eventually phase it out. What’s more, the Senate proposal will slash more money from home health than is needed to pay for the add-on.
We want Congress to use S.353, sponsored by Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, as the basis for the extension. This would extend the rural add-on for all rural areas through 2022, and pay for it with a small home health outlier adjustment.
