A new state law took effect on January 1st that requires home care agencies, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult day centers to provide 6 hours of dementia care training to their direct care staff, along with 4 hours of annual continuing education.
This is good for employees and patients, but it’s an operational and financial challenge for agencies.
No worries — we’ve got you covered! The Alliance is partnering with C & V Senior Care Specialists to provide recorded webinars and training materials that will be free to our members only. The program will be available in early February. The NH House passed SB 255 yesterday, which changes effective dates in the new law. NH DHHS is drafting rules, which will likely take 6 months to finalize. The Alliance will keep you posted on what agencies need to do to be compliant with the law.
** NH DHHS Bureau of Health Facilities Administration will enforce the law as part of its regular survey process.
