Action needed on an important survey regarding VA claims.
You have probably seen the media coverage about outstanding Veterans’ Administration claims. New Hampshire’s hospitals currently have a backlog of $134 million in VA claims. While home care has not been as visible in the local news media, I want to assure you that the Alliance has been working on this issue. Two weeks ago, NH Congressman Chris Pappas chaired a Congressional Subcommittee to investigate VA provider issues. Bill Dombi, president of the National Association of Home Care and Hospice (NAHC), testified before the Subcommittee. The Alliance submitted a letter for the record outlining some of the general problems NH agencies have been experiencing.
During the hearing, leaders from the VA, TriWest and Optum pledged to resolve home health problems. NAHC wants to use NH as a test case to try to expedite claims payments. In order to work with NAHC on this initiative, the Alliance needs specific claims information for each payor and type of service.
Check your email for this important survey!
- Please complete the excel spreadsheet by inputting data on ALL VA claims by payor type — VA Manchester, VA White River Junction, TriWest and Optum.
- Save the spreadsheet with your agency’s name in the title.
- Email your completed spreadsheet to Erin Meagher at Helms & Company by Friday, March 13th. (This deadline is important! I will be doing Capitol Hill visits in DC on March 24th ; the aggregate information will be extremely useful!)
- If your agency does not provide VA services, please email Erin with the subject line “NO VA.”
If you have any questions, please contact me at 603-225-5597 or Erin at 603-225-6633.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this important initiative.
