NEXT MEETING: Time: Apr 15, 2021 02:00 PM

Thanks to all who joined the planning meeting this week.  Wonderful ideas emerged and we made some important decisions to get things rolling.  Please take a look at the recap below and let me know if I have left anything out.  At the April meeting, we will need to narrow the list of topics and start an outline for the sessions.  There is still time to add new ideas if you had thoughts after we met.

As a follow up to the message below, I have received the legacy template that Sharolyn talked about and I thank her for sharing this!  I am attaching it here so that all can take a look and think about if or how to use this in a breakout session or interactive segment.  I also remembered that someone mentioned legacy cards as another possible tool to share and experience in a session.  There are many of these card games.  You may want to weigh in on your favorites.  Here are a few examples:

Decisions:

  • The event will be virtual again this year (in-person and hybrid options were discussed)
  • Everyone liked the format of the 2020 event and decided to repeat the plan with a series over three consecutive weeks
  • Preferred dates – Wednesdays from 10 am-12 noon, Oct. 6th, 13th and 20th

Suggested Topics/ideas:

  • Green Burial, other traditions and options for burial – Phaneuf offers webinars on this
  • Complimentary Therapies – maybe reiki, maybe music therapy
  • Teepa Snow – Gems series – probably too expensive – but anything with Teepa Snow would be popular
  • Repeat Shorelines as the second session – focus it on whatever the theme is for this year
  • Storycorps – Leslie to get info
  • How to tell your story – Leslie to share info about a college that offers this online
  • The Art of Life Stories (Eric uses this)
  • Life review/legacy themes – Sharolyn has a template that could be shared as an exercise in breakout rooms
  • Have a professional storyteller present something
  • Anything that encourages sharing our stories – maybe ask volunteers to be in breakout rooms to share a patient story that had a significant impact on them
  • Use zoom rooms to connect volunteers with people from other agencies and areas of the state
  • Use panel discussions to increase participation among attendees
  • End of Life Doulas – what they do and their relationship with hospice care
