Medicare Bundled Payments:  A Revolution Ahead for Medicare Home Providers

Wednesday, June 10, 2015 10:00-11:30am
Presented as a New England Home Care Association State Partnership

Medicare’s bundled payments initiative is a window into the new reality of transforming payments from rewarding volume to value. Bundling creates powerful incentives to change referral patterns and reshape care delivery with an episodic mindset. Home health providers can play an important role in this initiative and those that fail to grasp the nature and speed of this transformation may be left on the outside looking in as networks are narrowed and expectations about improved outcomes at lower cost rapidly evolve. Participants will gain understanding of bundling basics, roles for post‐acute providers under bundled payments, and the importance of care redesign and effective partnership strategies.

  • Understand the basics of how Medicare’s bundled payments program works and how it is likely to change markets for post‐acute care
  • Demonstrate strategies to effectively partner with bundlers
  • Motivate the important next steps that post‐acute providers should take in preparing for value‐based care in general and bundling in particular
