What Non-Financial Managers Need to Know About Financial Statements

This program will focus on financial statement preparation for the home care industry.  It will present the different types of financial statements geared towards non-financial managers, and how to interpret financial statements for management use.  There will be a discussion of key aspects of the financial statements and how to look at revenue, cost and profit margin.  There will also be a discussion of the various methods of episodic revenue recognition.

Designed for Home Health, this program will address the needs of non-financial managers in analyzing financial statements and other financial reports. The goal of this webinar is to provide attendees with a working knowledge of interpreting and analyzing financial statements and performing cost and margin analysis.

Objectives:

  • Review the preparation and use of budgeting and financial statements
  • Discuss the difference between cash basis and accrual basis financial statements
  • Describe the development and analysis of simple ratios/performance metrics
  • Review the calculation and evaluation of episode cost and reimbursement
  • Identify the impact that non-financial managers may have on financials

Faculty: Dave Macke, CHFP, FHFMA, is the Director of Reimbursement Services for VonLehman & Company, a regional CPA firm with offices in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky and Indianapolis, Indiana.  He is also a shareholder with the firm and has been with VonLehman for over 24 years.  He has over 35 years of healthcare finance experience.  He oversees the firm’s Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting and reimbursement consulting practice working primarily with Home Health, Hospice and Hospital providers.  Dave is a member and Fellow (FHFMA) in the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and a member of the National Association of Homecare and Hospice (NAHC) and the Homecare and Hospice Financial Managers Association (HHFMA) where he is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Financial Managers Workgroup.  He is the chairperson of the HHFMA Payment and Reimbursement Committee and the Medicare Cost Report Committee.
